Donor Spotlight - David and Linda Wesselink
For Glenkirk, part of the silver lining to the COVID-19 pandemic has been having financial stability in order to weather this storm, thanks to the contributions of dedicated families, board members and donors over many years. Celebrating such champions, the Heritage Society Newsletter is excited to highlight the generosity and compassion of two of our most dedicated donors, David and Linda Wesselink. Together, they exemplify the incredible impact our donors have on the lives of those we serve at Glenkirk.
Although David and Linda do not have a loved one with a developmental disability, they have provided steadfast support to Glenkirk over the past four decades. When asked why they give, Linda had this to say:
“We’ve been impressed with Glenkirk since the first day we were introduced to their good work. David and I enjoy giving back to organizations like Glenkirk where our gift will be put to good use and make a significant impact on the lives of those that need it most.”
A longstanding board member of the former Glenkirk Foundation, David is currently serving on the Glenkirk board, and is also a board member of the Keystone Foundation where he serves as the chair of the finance committee. In addition to their annual support of the Benefit Bash, the Wesselinks also give to the Heritage Society in order to help create critical reserve and endowment funds for Glenkirk.
Through this visionary leadership and philanthropy, the Wesselinks are helping ensure that Glenkirk will have a bright future.
“When it comes to the financial stability of critical nonprofit organizations like Glenkirk, you can never be too prepared,” said David. “We hope that others will join us in the Heritage Society. By growing strategic support from donors, family and friends, Glenkirk can build the reserve and endowed funds it needs for continued financial stability, and can grow its ability to serve those with developmental disabilities for years to come.”
David and Linda live in Northbrook. Their son, Bill Wesselink, is the Co-founder of Dovetail Brewery.
